Here, he reflects on traveling to Oxford with Bill Clinton in 1968 and on how the Right has taken over politics in the US since that year. He speculates on a possible shift back towards a prominent Left politics, yet suggests “there won’t be a return to the pre-1968 left, regardless of who’s elected next November”.
